LEARN TO RACE YOUR SAILBOAT!
On-the-water & classroom clinic to teach skippers how to start racing their own boats
You will learn, basic racing rules, race preparation, crew safety, how to start a race, successful and safe interactions with other boats, and how to get involved in the local racing scene.
Saturday, May 3, 2008, 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM at the Hampton Yacht Club
The program includes two hours of classroom instruction, lunch, a seasoned racing skipper to accompany you on the water, and 2 hours of drills and mini-races. YOU will drive your boat; the volunteer seasoned skipper will provide you and your crew basic instruction for a safe and successful learning experience. This is a basic class (non-spinnaker) for the beginner.
Registration cost: $15 for skipper and $10 for each crew member includes hand-outs and lunch prepared by HYC. Registrations must be received by April 25.

Make checks payable to CCV, and indicate total number in your party; type, name and length of your boat; your address and phone number, and e-mail. Please be sure to have your boat secured to the T-head dock at the Hampton Yacht Club by 9:30 AM ! Some boats may have to raft-up to adjacent boats, so bring fenders and lines.
Basic requirements to participate in the clinic: A sailboat that is at least 20 feet long, at least one crew member in addition to the skipper, all basic Coast Guard safety gear in place including VHF, wrist watch, boat in good working order, a good attitude that places a priority on safety, learning and having fun on the water!
